Keep Your Kids' Things Organized With A Genius Dollar Tree Closet Storage Hack

Add Mom on Google:

As a mom of four, I'm constantly trying to find new ways to organize my kids' toys. Sometimes, the perfect storage solution for me doesn't make it easy for them to actually play with their toys, so they end up just dumping out the storage bins and forgetting what toy goes in which place. We need something that (most importantly) keeps toys off the floor and is easy for the kids to grab and clean up afterward. It's a tall order, but luckily, you don't have to shell out a ton of cash to make it work.

One parent shared their genius toy organization hack on TikTok, using items that were all bought at Dollar Tree. For this storage trick, you'll need plastic tubs with handles. Stick a broom handle through the holes in the handles. Using S hooks, hang the broom handle from the rack in your kids' closet. From there, put a different type of toy in each bin, such as one for Legos, another for squishy toys and stuffed animals, and one for Barbie dolls. You can even use the bins for books and kids' shoes. It's easy to grab the items out to play, keeps toys off the floor, and utilizes extra space in the closet that usually gets so messy.

Love this closet storage hack and want to make it even better? Instead of buying a broom handle, you could use an unused tension curtain rod you have stowed away. Putting stoppers on the ends of the rod can help prevent the baskets from falling off and accidentally creating a huge mess (knowing my kids, this is the first thing that would happen!). To help keep things tidy, use a label maker (or tape and a Sharpie) to label each plastic bin.

Maybe you don't like the idea of your kids playing in their closets — my kids love hiding in theirs, making piles of their stuffies, and turning it into a disaster zone. You could still incorporate the same storage idea, but instead of toys, put your kids' socks, underwear, shirts, or pants inside. Or do five baskets and label them Monday through Friday. Then, have your child pick out their clothes in advance and put them in the appropriate bucket to make getting ready for school mornings easier.
