5 Benefits Moms Can Enjoy With A Costco Membership
Costco shoppers are easy to spot: they always seem to have the best food, cool home decor, and new clothes, too. You've seen Costco's viral products on TikTok, but to actually shop at this warehouse, you have to be a member. For busy moms on a budget, signing up for an annual Costco membership can be worth it — and not just for all the exclusive products.
Moms appreciate savings on household essentials, food, infant formula, baby gear, and so much more. At Costco, cutting costs on diapers while trying its famous pumpkin pie is a win-win. The food perks alone are worth it, as the cost of packing lunches has risen alongside the price of groceries. Saving money is more important than ever, and one way to stretch your money is by buying in bulk. You can also save precious pennies on wipes, kids' clothes and shoes, and even travel costs with a Costco membership. To help you decide whether a membership is the right fit for you, we've narrowed down five Costco perks especially appealing to moms.
Deals on diaper supplies
Parents spend an average of around $1,000 on diapers in a baby's first year alone, according to a September 2025 poll on The Bump. Because diapers are so expensive, this one can be a huge perk of a Costco membership for parents. Costco has deals on name-brand diapers, where the bulk buying comes in handy. For example, you can score a 192-pack of Huggies Little Snugglers Plus diapers in Size 1 for about $38 (prices can vary by location) on Costco's website, compared to a 168-count of the Little Snugglers (same size) for about $45 at Target.
Members can also get Costco brand Kirkland Signature diapers at a fraction of the price. A 160-count box of size 1 goes for approximately $25 on Costco's website. One parent on Reddit said they signed up for a Costco membership simply because of the deals on wipes and diapers. "It's especially great when they run their $10 off a box of diapers and we stock up like crazy!"
Access to Costco's store-brand infant formula
Costco carries many common brands of infant formula, including Similac, Enfamil, and Bobbie, but its best deal for members is access to Costco's store-brand formula, which is great in its own right. In fact, The New York Times named Kirkland Signature ProCare Non-GMO Infant Formula as an infant formula top pick in 2026. This formula is $64 for a two-pack of 42-ounce cans, compared to a Similac360 Total Care Infant Formula, which is about $50 for a 30.8-ounce can at Walmart. Talk about huge savings!
Costco also has specialized infant formula, such as its Kirkland Signature ProCare Gentle infant formula for babies with sensitive tummies. It's about $68 for a two-pack of 42-ounce cans, which is less than half the price of the comparable Enfamil NeuroPro Gentlease Baby Formula at Walmart, which is about $68 for one 35.3-ounce can.
Parents who've used it praised the Kirkland brand formula, with one person writing on Reddit that they exclusively formula-fed two kids. "Our pediatrician with our first actually recommended Kirkland because formula is so highly regulated in the U.S., he said the fancier brands' ingredients do not make any difference." Another person praised, "We did Kirkland and both kids are smart, healthy, and delightful! There's not much difference, just prettier marketing!"
Convenient shopping
Babies often need a lot more than diapers and formula, which is why it's great that Costco has moms covered in other areas as well. The warehouse sells tons of baby gear, such as car seats and strollers, baby monitors, and nursery and baby furniture. This is great for expectant moms who are setting up their first nurseries (or their registries) or seasoned moms looking for an upgrade.
You can also stock up on clothes, sleepwear, jackets, and shoes for infants and children. Kids grow fast, so always having access to affordable clothes is definitely important. And if you're looking for toys, electronics, and outdoor fun for kids, Costco has that, too. It sells everything from trading cards to backyard playsets, as well as books, puzzles, video games, arts and crafts, dolls, and all kinds of other toys. Holiday shopping is even easier when you can find presents for the whole family in one place.
Savings on food for the family
With a Costco membership, you can save on food for the family. Consumer Reports compared what it would cost shoppers to fill their baskets with commonly purchased items, using Walmart as the baseline. CR found that Costco is 21.4% cheaper nationally than a comparable basket of groceries at Walmart. Certain foods offer even better savings at Costco. For example, in a column published by Business Insider, one shopper discovered that several types of prepackaged snacks were significantly cheaper per ounce (a whopping 50% cheaper for Simple Mills crackers) at Costco than Walmart. The shopper also found that shoppers could save on items like cereal and pancake mixes. For example, a box of Cheerios came in at $0.17 per ounce at Costco, compared to $0.25 per ounce at Walmart.
Costco also has ready-to-go meals that save on time, including its famous $5 rotisserie chicken that is good to eat on its own or tossed into salads or casseroles. The store also has a variety of food ready to pop in the oven and enjoy, like chicken tikka masala, jumbo beef meatballs, spinach, and cheese ravioli, and so much more. These pre-made meals can come in handy when you have a newborn at home or when the family is busy with sports and after-school activities. As a mom with both school-aged children and a newborn, I can attest that easy dinners are a must. However, it's important to keep in mind that if your family can't eat perishable foods like eggs, milk, and produce before they expire, these cost savings may not be worth it.
Good deals on vacation packages
One unexpected benefit of a Costco membership is the wholesaler's deals on travel. We save and plan for months to afford a family vacation, and with Costco, you can get member-only deals on vacation packages, hotels, cruises, and rental cars. This includes the Disney Cruise Line, packages for Disneyland Resort vacations and Walt Disney World trips, and offers on several other family-friendly destinations, all-inclusive beach resorts, cruises, and more.
Travel agents took to Reddit to confirm that Costco often offers better discounts on vacation packages. One travel agent on Reddit was blunt: "I am an agent and I promise this is a better deal than I can book for you with Disney directly." Another person wrote, "Travel agent here, yeah, anytime a client sends me a Costco deal I just tell them to go ahead and book it with my blessing lol. It's rough, you can't compete with Costco." Before you go, be sure to check out the warehouse's selection of luggage and Disney gear to get set for the ultimate family vacay.
