It ranked as the 25th most popular name in the 1980's, and surprisingly, decades later, it's still ranked about the same, coming in at 34. The nicknames you can make out of the name are just as pretty and timeless, such as Emme or Milly.

Victoria is a traditional Latin name that is classic enough to span generations. In the 1980s, the name ranked 56th in the Social Security Administration's most popular names; today, the name is in nearly the same spot, ranking 54th. With its royal connotations (think Queen Victoria), it's a lovely option for your little princess.

This Biblical name of Hebrew origin means "favor" or "grace," and is a beautiful choice if you're looking for a faith-based name. Hannah was ranked as 91st in the 1980s, and hit a popularity high in the 1990s, but has slowly moved back up the list, now coming in 56th in popularity for names today. 

The name Leah, also Biblical in origins, has been slowly rising in the rankings over the decades. In the 1980s, Leah was in the 81st spot; today, in 2025, it was ranked 58th. The name is actually quite versatile, and can be pronounced two different ways, "Lee-ah" or "Lay-ah," with spellings like Lia or Leia.

The name Maria is known for its religious connotations, with roots in Hebrew, Greek, and Egyptian. This timeless quality explains why you may have noticed it across several generations of a family, making it a wonderful way to honor a relative.
