General
- What is Mom.com?
- Mom.com is a daily deal site where we negotiate deep discounts with merchants on behalf of moms. Every day,
we offer a new fabulous deal on the things you and your family like to buy, eat, and do. We're able to
provide these great savings thanks to the local and national merchants who believe (as we do) that moms are
the best kind of customers. They want to attract your business, you want to save money and try new things.
Mom.com is a win-win for everyone.
Visit our About Us page to learn more about who we are and what we do. - Is there a fee for signing up for the daily email?
- No way. The membership and the deal notifications are free. You only pay for the deals that you buy.
- I'm not a mom; can I still buy your deals?
- Of course! While we select our deals with moms in mind, we know that these deals are appealing to dads and other carbon-based lifeforms, too. Anyone is welcome to buy — but we hope you won't be offended if we call you "mom."
- What's the difference between subscribing to Mom.com emails and creating a Mom.com account?
- You'll need to have a Mom.com account in order to buy deals and/or earn Mom Dollars. Once you have a Mom.com account, you'll be able to sign in to make purchases, print vouchers, check your Mom Dollars balance, and update your account details.
- What do you do with my email address?
- We use your email address to send you deal emails, purchase confirmations, and reminders about unused vouchers. You can add or edit the cities for which you receive emails or unsubscribe at any time in the My Account section.
During the checkout process for select merchants we may ask if you'd like to share your email address with the merchant you are purchasing the deal from. Be assured we'll always comply with our Privacy Policy with respect to how we share and use your email address. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. - How do I buy today's deal?
- Each deal includes a detailed description of what we're offering, and a big orange button that says "Buy Now." If the deal sounds good to you, just click that button and follow the directions on the checkout page. After you complete your purchase we'll email you with a confirmation. The next day you'll receive an emailed voucher for your deal, and instructions on how to redeem it.
- I bought a deal, but now what?
- You'll receive a voucher in your email the day after you make your purchase (unless other timing is specified in the deal terms.) The voucher will include instructions on how to redeem it for the deal you bought. In some cases, you might print the voucher and bring it to the merchant in order to receive your discount; in others, you'll have a special code to use for a discounted online purchase.
If you lose the voucher, don't worry — you can log in to Mom.com, then click the "My Account" link in the upper right corner of the screen to see all the deals you've purchased and print any of your available vouchers. - Wait, what's a voucher?
- A voucher has monetary value, and can be exchanged for goods or services. Your Mom.com voucher represents the deal you bought (for example, "50% Off a Hot Stone Massage at Ahhhsome Spa"), and you'll use it with the merchant in order to get their discount.
- Can I combine a Mom.com deal with other coupons or offers?
- Usually our deals are so good on their own, they can't be combined with other offers. However, each deal is slightly different, so be sure to read the Deal Details for any exceptions.
- Why do deals only last for a limited time?
- If merchants offered these steep discounts forever, eventually they'd go out of business and we'd ALL be unhappy. Don't let a great deal pass you by, we're only able to provide these savings because they're on a limited-time basis.
- A deal I wanted to buy is over. Can I still buy it?
- Sorry, once a deal is over, it's no longer available for purchase. You can always contact us to let us know what kinds of deals you're most interested in, we're constantly collecting feedback to make sure we're offering the best deals possible.
- Do I need to live in the US in order to buy deals?
- Yes, currently, you need to reside in the USA in order to be able to buy deals. We're looking to add other countries in the future.
Refer A Friend and Mom Dollars
- How do referrals work?
- Mom.com has a referral program where you can tell friends about our site and earn $5 for every person you
referred who makes their first Mom.com purchase. You can use our personalized referral tool to generate a
special link which you can email to your friends, or post to the world via Facebook or Twitter. If your
friend clicks on a referral link from you, then makes their first purchase from Mom.com, you'll get $5 worth
of Mom Dollars which you can apply to future Mom.com purchases.
Please note you only earn Mom Dollars if it's your friend's first purchase with Mom.com, and only if they
do so after clicking your referral link (since this is the only way we know it's you who sent them). - Can I refer as many people as I want?
- Absolutely.
- What if someone gets referral links from two different Mom.com members?
- If you and another Mom.com member both send a referral link to a mutual friend, only the last referral code your friend clicks before making their first purchase will result in a Mom Dollars payment for the person who sent it to them.
- So what exactly are Mom Dollars?
- Mom Dollars spend like cash on Mom.com. You can earn them for referring friends to Mom.com as described above, and sometimes we'll give them out for other reasons.
- How do I use my Mom Dollars?
- You don't have to do a thing; your available Mom Dollars will always be automatically applied to your next purchase.
- Do Mom Dollars expire?
- Yes, Mom Dollars expire 6 months from the date you were awarded them. You may have Mom Dollars with different expiration dates in your account. We'll always apply the oldest Mom Dollars first to your purchase.
You can read our Terms of Service for more details. - How do I see how many Mom Dollars I have?
- When you're signed into Mom.com, click the "My Account" link at the top right of your screen. In My Account, click the "Mom Dollars" link on the right to see your balance and expiration date(s).
- When does the "Refer a Friend for $5 to Mom.com" promotion end?
- While we see this as a long-term program, we do reserve the right to terminate it at any time. If the promotion ends, any Mom Dollars you have in your account at the time will remain available to you until their expiration date.
- What's the fine print for Mom Dollars?
- Mom Dollars can only be used to purchase Mom.com deals; they are not redeemable for cash. We reserve the right to withhold issuing any Mom Dollars in our discretion, for example, if there has been a violation of our Terms of Service.
Payments
- How is my credit card processed?
- We transmit your credit card payment using SSL encryption, the gold standard in secure online transactions.
We do not store your credit card information on our servers. - When do I get charged for my purchase?
- An authorization charge will immediately appear on your account, and then your card will be charged the next morning when your Mom.com voucher is sent out.
- Why was my card charged twice?
- If you see what seem to be two charges on your credit card statement for one deal, you're likely seeing two different (and totally normal) things:
- The authorization charge for the deal, which disappears within a few days
- The actual charge for the deal, which remains on your statement
Why these two charges? It's just how banks do things. When you make a purchase, the bank immediately places an authorization for the full price of the deal on your account to confirm you have the funds available in your account. When the charge is actually processed, your account is charged and the authorization is removed. - I got an email saying there was a problem with my credit card. Now what?
- If we're unable to process your credit card, we'll email you to let you know. It could just be a typo or expiration date incorrectly entered. We'll give you 3 days to fix the problem so you don't miss out on the deal.
Vouchers
- When should I receive my voucher?
- Vouchers are emailed out the day after you make your purchase, unless other timing is specified in the Deal Details.
- Do I need to print my voucher?
- If you're going to redeem the voucher at an in-person location, then yes, you need to print your voucher and bring it with you. If you're redeeming it online, you don't need to print it out.
- Do I need to show ID to redeem a voucher?
- If you're redeeming in-person, you may be asked by the merchant to show a valid, government-issued ID in order to redeem your voucher. It's up to the business whether they want see an ID before accepting your voucher. Just in case, you should always bring your ID with you.
Because deals are transferrable, the merchant knows the name on your ID may not match the name on the voucher. They are checking to keep track of who is redeeming the vouchers, not to match the names. - Oh no, I lost my voucher! What do I do?
- No problem, you can just print a new one. Just log into Mom.com and click the "My Account" link in the upper right corner of the screen to see all the deals you've purchased and print any of your available vouchers.
- I bought a deal I can't use — can I give or sell it to a friend?
- Yes, vouchers are fully transferable, unless otherwise noted in the deal terms. You can give them as gifts or even resell them (as long as you follow all applicable laws).
- If I don't use the full value of my voucher in one visit, can I use the remainder later or get cash back?
- No, unless otherwise stated, there is no store credit or cash back for the unused portion of a voucher.
- What happens if my voucher expires?
- We'll send you reminders to try to prevent this from happening — we don't want anyone to miss out on using the deals they've purchased. But, if you do let a voucher expire, you may still redeem your voucher for the paid portion. So, for example, if your deal is "$5 for $10 worth of goods", the paid portion — the part your credit card was charged for - is $5. You can still redeem your voucher for $5 with the merchant after the expiration date.
Gifts
- Can I buy a deal for a friend?
- Yes, we have a gifting option available. From the main deal page, under the "Buy Now" button is a "Buy as a Gift" button. Just click there, enter your friend's information on the checkout page, and we'll email the voucher directly to your friend.
- I want to give a deal as a gift to someone, but my name is still on it. Is this ok?
- Yes! The purchaser name appears on all vouchers, even gifts, but no need to worry. The gift recipient can still redeem the voucher you gave them.
Refunds
- What is your return policy?
- All Mom.com sales are final, because the voucher(s) you receive after you purchase a deal are issued by the
merchant, not us. You should contact the merchant directly with any issues related to the products or
services you receive from that merchant.
If you try and are unable to get in touch with the merchant, please contact us — we'll be happy to try to
help you. - What if I wasn't happy with my product or service?
- Your first step should be to contact the business directly and try to work it out with them. They want you to have a good experience and want to hear when you don't.
If you are still not satisfied, contact us and we'll work with you to find a satisfactory solution. - What if a merchant goes out of business before I can redeem my voucher?
- In the very unlikely event something like this happens that makes it impossible for you to redeem your deal, contact us and we'll help you out.
